Watch The Lord of the Rings Series Online: The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is an upcoming American fantasy web series based on J.R. R. Tolkien’s novel The Lord of the Rings and its appendices. The series, created by J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay for Amazon Prime Video, is set thousands of years before Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings in the Second Age of Middle-earth. Amazon Studios is collaborating with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins, and New Line Cinema to produce the film. The showrunners are Payne and McKay. Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video gave the series a multi-season commitment, which was thought to be for five seasons, with the possibility of a spin-off series as well. Despite this, Prime Video required a formal greenlight for future seasons before production could begin. Cast & Crew

The cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is massive, so let’s see the main cast: Morfydd Clark, who starred in Saint Maud, has agreed to play a young Galadriel. Midsommar’s Will Poulter was replaced as a young Elrond by Robert Aramayo, who previously played a young Ned Stark in Game of Thrones. Maxim Baldry, best known as the kid from Mr. Bean’s Holiday (he’s now in his mid-twenties, because yes, we’re old), will play Isildur, the one-day king.

The notable behind-the-scenes talent includes costume designer Kate Hawley (Edge of Tomorrow, Suicide Squad), production designer Rick Heinrichs (Sleepy Hollow, Star Wars: The Last Jedi), and visual effects supervisor Jason Smith (Edge of Tomorrow, Suicide Squad) (Super 8, Avengers). The show will also feature concept artist John Howe, who worked on Jackson’s trilogy.
