Shamshera is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language period action film directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor star as the lead. Shamshera is the first film in which Ranbir Kapoor plays two characters: Dutt as the main antagonist and Vaani Kapoor as a dancer. The film will hit theaters on July 22. By dubbing the film in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, YRF hopes to sell it as a pan-India experience. On July 22, the film will also be released in IMAX format.

Teaser

The teaser gives a sense of the film’s scope and the CGI landscapes created by Malhotra and his team. Shamshera appears to be a cross between an old-fashioned Western and a 1970s action epic in tone. The teaser doesn’t reveal much about the plot, but it does hint at the main conflict. Shamshera, played by Ranbir, is a dacoit who leads his ‘tribe’ in revolt against Dutt’s villain. The character is portrayed as a messiah-like figure, leading the charge across vast deserts and wielding a pickaxe against enemies. Watch the teaser below,
