Sara Arjun is an Indian child actress who primarily features in Tamil and Hindi films and advertisements. Sara is from a cinema background family, Sara’s father, Raj Arjun, is an actor who has acted in films such as Secret Superstar, Thalaivii, Dear Comrade, and Watchman. Sara had starred in a number of advertisements and a Hindi short film before the age of six. She was cast as the lead in A. L. Vijay’s Tamil drama film Deiva Thirumagal in 2010. She has since appeared in numerous Indian films, primarily in Tamil and Hindi, but also in Telugu and Malayalam, earning praise for her performances, particularly in Vijay’s Saivam (2014). Now, she is starring in Ponniyin Selvan, directed by Mani Ratnam.
She began her career as a kid model in television commercials. Sara had acting as a six-year-old whose father was a mentally impaired adult with the mental capacity of a six-year-old The film debuted with critical and economic success, with film critics praising Sara’s performance. Sara then appeared in Kannan Iyer’s spooky Hindi film Ek Thi Daayan (2013), produced by Ekta Kapoor, as Misha, the primary character’s younger sister. The film received great reviews but did not perform well commercially. She later played the lead in R. Sundarrajan’s Chithirayil Nilachoru, yet the film received little attention and received poor reviews. Sara then worked on Vijay’s Saivam, a family drama in which she portrayed the lead role of Thamizhselvi, a little girl. She received wonderful reviews for her work in an ensemble cast, with one writer remarking that “the picture wouldn’t be half the film without her”.
