High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (HSMTMTS Season 3) is an American mockumentary musical drama television series created by Tim Federle for Disney+ that is based on the High School Musical film series. HSMTMTS Season 3 will be available on Disney+ on July 27, 2022. New episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays. Chorus Boy and Salty Pictures are producing the series in collaboration with Disney Channel, with Oliver Goldstick serving as showrunner for the first four episodes. Federle took over as showrunner for the remainder of the first season and beyond.

HSMTMTS Season 3 will include music from Frozen, Camp Rock, and, of course, High School Musical. While we don’t yet know the titles of all eight episodes of Season 3, we do know that the premiere episode is called “Happy Campers.”

Series Details

Plot

HSMTMTS Season 3 takes place outside of the school year, with the students attending Camp Shallow Lake, a summer theater camp in California. The campers are preparing for a Frozen production. Throughout the rehearsal period, a documentary series about the musical production is filmed.

Disney+ released the official trailer for HSMTMTS Season 3 on June 29. The Wildcats have arrived at Camp Shallow Lake in the two-minute clip, and we get a sneak peek at the high-stakes audition process for the summer production of Frozen. The trailer also includes a few brief glimpses of Olivia Rodrigo as Nini, though her character does not appear to be at camp with the rest of the Wildcats.
